A 14-year-old girl is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough, and the search is on for the driver that fled the scene.

It happened at Finch Avenue and Neilson Road at around 5:40 p.m., Toronto police Const. Clint Stibbe said.

The girl, who was alone at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said she lived in the area.

“We have an investigative team here, and we are looking for evidence related to the collision,” Stibbe told CP24 at the scene.

The vehicle failed to remain at the scene after the girl was struck.

“We are still working to determine the exact description of that vehicle at this point,” Stibbe said.

Investigators are in the process of obtaining video evidence from the area.
