Police are searching for four male suspects after a violent home invasion in North York on Monday night.

According to police, a 46-year-old woman was in her apartment in the Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue area at around 7:30 p.m. when she answered a knock at her door.

Police say four men, one of them armed with a firearm, then forced their way inside and ransacked the unit, taking a quantity of cash, cell phones and designer purses.

The woman was then sexually assaulted before the men fled, police say.

The first suspect is described as being young looking with a light-brown complexion and a short, round face.

The second suspect is described as black, in his 20s, with a very thin build, sunken cheeks and small eyes. He was last seen wearing a short, black down filled jacket, black pants, and a black baseball cap with his face covered.

The third suspect is described as brown with protruding wide-set eyes. He was last seen wearing a light-green jacket.

The fourth suspect had his face fully covered except for eyes and mouth and was wearing a beige jacket.

Police say the men are believed to be armed and dangerous.
