HAMILTON, Ont. - Police in Hamilton say a shooting victim waited more than an hour after being shot to go to hospital.

Police say a 21-year-old woman with a single gunshot wound walked into the emergency room at Hamilton General Hospital early Monday evening.

Hospital staff called police and investigators determined the woman had been shot in an alley about 90 minutes before arriving at the hospital.

Police say the woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the shooting was not a random act, and say the investigation is in its preliminary stages.
