The Yonge subway line will be closed this weekend between Bloor and Eglinton stations due to signal upgrades and track work.

The subway closure will be in effect all day on both Saturday and Sunday. Shuttle buses and Wheel-Trans buses will be running instead.

Alternate routes include the 32 Eglinton West bus and the 512 St. Clair streetcar that connect with the Spadina subway line running north-south.

The TTC says the work is necessary to repair and replace ageing wiring and cabling equipment nearing the end of its life.

“Their frequent failure significantly impacts service,” the TTC said in a written statement.

Regular subway service will resume Monday at 6 a.m.
