Two people have been arrested and a young woman has been found safe after an alleged abduction involving a weapon in Barrie.

The incident happened on Dunlop Street East near Mary Street at 11:52 a.m. A woman believed to be under the age of 18 was walking east when a male and a female in a Dodge Magnum approached her, police said.

The male driver got out of the vehicle, held a black firearm up in the air and then put it down on the roof of the vehicle before numerous demands were made for the woman to get inside the car, police said.

The woman eventually got into the car and it was last seen travelling westbound on Dunlop Street East before turning northbound on Owen Street.

Police said Saturday afternoon that they were trying to locate the young woman and the suspects and released photos of the incident in the hopes that the public would come forward with information.

The first suspect is described as a white male with a large build, standing around six-foot-two. He is unshaven with tattoos on his neck and was wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark t-shirt and sunglasses.

The second suspect is described as a female with a heavy build and long, dark curly hair.

Police said they were also looking for the vehicle – a charcoal Dodge Magnum with the partial Ontario license plate of BCP.

Around 5:30 p.m., police said the young woman had been found safe and that the two suspects had been arrested.

Police have not provided a motive for the alleged abduction and have not said where the young woman was found.

Anyone with information about the case is being asked to contact police.
