Police have charged a 28-year-old Oshawa man with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his father earlier this year.

Durham police announced the arrest Wednesday afternoon.

Claudio Cara, 56, was found dead inside his home on Waverly Street North in Oshawa on Feb. 15, 2012.

A post-mortem examination, conducted soon after his body was discovered, determined that Cara died of sharp force injury. The death was subsequently ruled a homicide by Durham Regional Police.

Francesco “Frank” Cara is charged with second-degree murder.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
