Police have issued a public safety alert after a Toronto man allegedly had unprotected sex with another man without disclosing his HIV positive status.

Twenty-eight-year-old Sahand Mahmoodi of Toronto has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.

Mahmoodi was diagnosed with HIV in December 2000 and he allegedly met the victim on an internet dating service. The suspect did not disclose his HIV status, police say.

He is believed to have frequented the Church and Wellesley Streets area. Police worry there may be other victims.

Anyone who may have had sexual contact with him is asked to call police at (416) 808-7474.
