The TTC is showing off a next-generation subway car at the CNE this summer, offering a glimpse into the future of Toronto's transit system.

The mock-up hints at the TTC's new fleet of underground vehicles, which will hit the rails in 2010.

The TTC has ordered 234 of these subway cars. TTC staff will be on-hand to answer any questions visitors may have.

The new cars contain several accessibility and safety enhancement features. There are now more spots for wheelchairs, bikes and luggage on the trains.

As well, passengers can walk freely between subway cars. Surveillance cameras will also be aboard the trains.

The new cars can be seen on the CNE grounds, just inside the Princes' Gates in front of the Direct Energy Centre.
