Two protesters from Fathers 4 Justice face nine charges after one climbed up a crane in North York this morning, dressed as Spiderman.

34-year-old Darcy Nogueira, a member of a group called Fathers 4 Justice, was protesting for equal rights for divorced parents. He climbed up the crane to place a banner that read "Fathers 4 Justice Support M483" at 18 Bean Drive, a Daniels construction site, near Sheppard and Bayview Avenues.

Kristin Titus, 35, on the street and in contact with Nogueira by walkie-talkie, told officers that he would not come down until media were present.

He came down once police agreed to leave up the banner he placed on the machine.

Both Nogueira and Titus are charged with conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, common nuisance, mischief and mischief interfering with property. Nogueira is also charged with break and enter commit.

Private Member's Motion M483 is a motion for equal parenting rights for both parents in cases of divorce, and was introduced in Parliament by Conservative MP Maurice Vellacott in April.

Earlier this month, the group staged another bizarre protest. Two men -- one dressed as Spiderman and the other as a character called Plywood Man -- climbed onto the rooftop of MP Jack Layton's office.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
