cp24.com

Steve Martin captured video footage of a car fire from the 11th floor of a Dundas Street building.

Hundreds of people stood outside the Eaton Centre during the Thursday lunch hour as firefighters hosed down a car on fire.

Video footage sent to CP24.com shows firefighters trying to put out the blaze on Yonge Street at Dundas Square after 12 p.m.

CP24 viewer Steve Martin captured the footage from the 11th floor of an adjacent Dundas Street West building.

Toronto Fire Service's information officer Stephen Powell says it took firefighters just three minutes to get the fire under control.

Powell says the fire is believed to have started in the engine area of the car and damage is estimated at $1,000.

There was one occupant in the car but no one was injured.

Traffic was closed near the busy downtown intersection while firemen cleared the debris.
