OTTAWA -- The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Mariposa Meats are warning the public not to consume Old Style brand Thin Sliced Honey Ham because the product may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

The affected product, Old Style brand Thin Sliced Honey Ham is sold in 450 gram packages bearing a best before date of 08NO17 (November 17, 2008) and UPC 6 28292 50001 7.

This product has been distributed exclusively in Price Chopper stores in Ontario.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product.

Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a food-borne illness.

The manufacturer, Mariposa Meats, Mississauga, Ont., is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace.
