TORONTO - At least three people suffered minor injuries in a multi-vehicle crash early today on eastbound Highway 401 in north-end Toronto.

Provincial police say three tractor trailers and three cars were involved in the pile-up (near Dufferin Street) at about 5:30 a.m.

Police say one vehicle making a lane change cut off one of the trucks, which jackknifed when the driver hit the brakes.

Two other tractors then slammed into the jackknifed truck and three cars became involved after being unable to stop in time.

The highway was icy at the time due to what police say was a flash freeze when the temperature dropped.

Debris was spread across several lanes and one of the big rigs was split in half, but no hazardous materials were involved.
