A 12-year-old boy is recovering today after being hit in the leg in a shooting Saturday night.

Police say the boy was going to visit a friend when he was shot before 11:30 p.m. at a housing complex on Pelham Park Gardens near Davenport Road and Lansdowne Avenue.

The bullet went through his leg just above the knee. The boy has been treated and released from hospital.

Investigators say several shotgun shell casings have been found at the scene, but it's not clear yet what led to the gunfire.

A white or silver vehicle was seen speeding away shortly after the shooting, police say.

Meanwhile in North York, police are investigating what appears to have been a drive by shooting at about 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Police were called to 155 Neptune Drive in the Bathurst Street and Highway 401 area after two apartment units were hit by gunfire.

No one was hurt, but residents are shaken up. Police say some shell casings have been found outside the building.

No information on suspects has been released.

Anyone with information on these shootings should call Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
