A teenager is facing charges of sexually assaulting young children at a west-end daycare.

Toronto police say the investigation began in April with complaints that a young girl had been victimized at a daycare on Sylvan Avenue, near Dufferin and College Streets in the city's Little Portugal neighbourhood.

Detectives say the probe found two more victims.

The 17-year-old is charged with three counts of sexual assault and three counts of sexual interference. Due to his age, his name can't be released under terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

However, police say the suspect was a high school co-op student at the daycare and that the parents at the centre are aware of the investigation.
