Service along GO Transit's Lakeshore corridor has returned to normal for the afternoon following a morning with major delays due to a pedestrian incident.

Commuters were advised to find alternative modes of transportation while GO Trains along the Lakeshore West line ran up to 78 minutes late after a train struck a pedestrian in Oakville, east of Bronte Station, early Tuesday morning.

"You're definitely going to need to give yourself lots of extra time," GO Transit's Diane Bedard said on CP24 Breakfast on Tuesday morning.

Halton Regional Police say the pedestrian was struck on Fourth Line, just north of Speers Road. A female victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
