Maurice Cacho

Maurice Cacho is the face of CP24’s award winning web team, having joined Toronto’s Breaking News in 2008.

A pioneering journalist, Cacho has integrated the Web into CP24’s broadcast news flow bringing viewers “their say” three times a day with online reaction from viewer polls, twitter, the blogosphere and CP24’s exclusive Filemobile technology.

Born in Mexico City, Cacho grew up in Oakville, Ontario. Cacho came to CP24 after working for The Canadian Press, The Hamilton Spectator and CTV TORONTO’s Connected Cruiser.

He is a graduate of Ryerson University’s School of Journalism and in 2008 won the Jerry Davey Award for News Photography. In 2010, he was appointed a director of the Ryerson Journalism Alumni Association.

Off-air, Cacho volunteers his time to Little Geeks, a philanthropic organization and registered Canadian charity that collects, refurbishes and re-distributes donated home computers to children in Toronto.

He is a soccer fanatic, skier in the winter, and all-year round has a passion for cars, photography and tech-gadgetry.
