Scarborough parents to be charged with abducting their own children

cp24.com

Scarborough parents accused of abducting their own children made it all the way to British Columbia before being apprehended by police Sunday morning.

The family had been together for an unsupervised visit from the Catholic Children’s Aid Society, which was caring for the children, when the kids disappeared. The organization had been in the process of seeking full custody of the children.

Police believe that the parents took the kids to the home of relatives in Richmond, B.C. on their way to flee to Hong Kong.

The family was found by members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The children were in good health and are now in protective care in B.C. Their parents are in police custody.

Toronto police are awaiting Crown Attorney approval to bring the parents back to Toronto to be charged with abduction and tried. Their names have not been included to protect the identities of the children.
