CALGARY — Members of the Calgary Flames and their families scored swine flu shots at a special clinic as thousands of Albertans waited in line for the vaccine or were turned away.

Ken King, president of the NHL club, says the players and their families received their shots on Friday at a private location.

King says the organization contacted Alberta Health Services and requested the clinic.

The revelation comes as the Alberta government faces mounting criticism for the way it has managed its swine flu vaccination program, which has been closed since the weekend.

Premier Ed Stelmach says he has ordered an investigation into what happened as the province deals with a vaccine shortage.

Alberta is expected to announce a new swine flu plan that will initially focus on providing shots to pregnant women and children between the ages of six months and five years.
