Three people are in custody after a young man was shot in the head near Eglinton and Midland Avenues.

The shooting took place at 136 Benjamin Blvd. shortly before 3 p.m. Police received reports that a person had been shot and was lying on the ground, bleeding from the forehead, says Const. Tony Vella.

The victim was conscious and breathing with a faint pulse, while he was transported to Sunnybrook hospital, according to Toronto Emergency Medical Services.

He is believed to be in his twenties and is expected to survive.

Several male teenagers were seen running from the scene towards an arena on Eglinton Avenue East.

One person was arrested shortly after the shooting, while another was taken into custody about 45 minutes later at Kennedy subway station. A firearm has also been recovered.

A third person is also now in police custody.

Shortly after the shooting, police found a cellphone at the scene and were combing the scene.
