Death of elderly man initially deemed suspicious now ruled a homicide

Gerald Robert Brown, 67, was found dead in his Yorkville home.

TORONTO — A 67-year-old man found dead in a home north of downtown Toronto is the city's 48th homicide of the year.

Police found the body of Gerald Robert Brown in the home near Bloor Street and Avenue Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Toronto Police said there were "obvious signs of trauma" and initially called the death suspicious.

But the case has now been upgraded to a homicide and a post-mortem is scheduled for today to determine a cause of death.

No arrests have been made.
