Peel police have lifted a lockdown placed on a Mississauga school after a body was found in a burned out car in its parking lot on Tuesday afternoon.

Police responded to a report of a car on fire after 1:30 p.m. at the Metropolitan Andrei Separate School, located at 515 Mississauga Valley Rd.

After the fire was extinguished, police located a person who was deceased inside. Investigators say the case is not a criminal investigation and does not appear suspicious at this time.

Police say there is no information on the identity of the body in the car. The body was found in the back seat.

Students at the school have been dismissed for the day.
