TORONTO - A 35-year-old man is clinging to life in hospital after being struck by a streetcar in Toronto overnight.

Police say the man was talking on a cellphone when he walked in front of the oncoming streetcar (in the Queen St. and Broadview Avenue area) around 12:45 a.m. this morning.

Police say the man did not cross the street in a marked crosswalk but there was a lighted pedestrian crossover about 100 metres away.

The man was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital with serious head injuries.

A 25-year-old woman was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Toronto (in the Don Mills and Sheppard area) on Saturday night.

On Friday, a 57-year-old man on crutches was killed after being hit by a dump truck in Toronto.
