TORONTO — Just under 3,300 vehicles in Canada are part of the worldwide safety recall involving the 2010 model year Prius.

Toyota says the Prius cars, along with just over 300 2010 Lexus HS250h vehicles are being recalled to update software in the vehicle's anti-lock brake system.

No other Toyota, Lexus, or Scion vehicles are involved in the recall.

The anti-lock braking system, in normal operation, engages and disengages many times per second as it senses and reacts to tire slippage.

Some 2010 model-year Prius and 2010 HS250h owners have reported experiencing inconsistent brake feel momentarily on rough or slick road surfaces when the ABS is activated.

Toyota Canada says Prius vehicles produced since May 2009 and all HS250h vehicles are subject to the recall. First- and second-generation Prius vehicles use a different ABS system and are not involved in the recall.
