The TTC is looking to mend fences with customers following incidents that have left the Red Rocket red-faced.

The commission met Wednesday, partially to discuss the development of a charter of rights for riders. The commission is looking to make a smoother ride for the 500,000 people who take the TTC on a daily basis.

Local hotel manager Steve O'Brien has been tapped to chair the panel on customer service woes. An organization formed of citizens concerned about the TTC calls the panel a good start.

Coun. Peter Milczyn, a TTC committee member, says the last few weeks have been embarrassing. Now that the problem has been exposed, it's time to fix it, he says.

The TTC has been dogged by customer service woes since a photograph of a sleeping driver blew up on Twitter in January.

Meanwhile, Premier Dalton McGuinty said Wednesday that Queen's Park is only willing to give addition funding to the TTC if it goes toward improving customer service. But the premier also says the likelihood of any kind of help this year is slim.

Coun. Adam Giambrone also attended Wednesday's meeting, his first public appearance since abandoning his campaign for mayor a week ago after admitting to cheating on his partner.
