TORONTO - Peel police say an officer injured in a crash Monday night in Brampton, Ont., has died.
Police say the officer was critically injured around 11 p.m. Monday when his marked cruiser collided with another vehicle.
The officer, who has not been identified, suffered severe injuries when the cruiser then slammed into a light standard.
The driver of the other vehicle was not seriously injured.
The officer was first rushed to a nearby hospital and later transferred to Sunnybrook hospital in Toronto.
Peel Police Chief Mike Metcalf has scheduled a news conference for Wednesday morning.
