AURORA, Ont. - Provincial police have charged 11 people with staging a collision on Highway 400 in King Township last June.

Police say the June 22, 2009, collision involved a car and a minivan.

There were a total of nine people, many of them claiming to have been injured, in the two vehicles at the time of the collision.

Investigators allege that all the occupants and two tow truck operators were willing participants in staging the collision.

Police say information from the insurers of the vehicles and the cellphone records of those involved led to the arrests.

All of the 11 are charged with conspiracy to commit fraud, obstructing a peace officer and public mischief.

Sarab Abdul-Masek, 41, Hanna Barkho, 41, Samuel Baakye, 22, Michael Moses Gerrick, 27, Nadiya Khamo, 43, Basil Nona, 37, Evan Nona, 23, Marlin Oshana, 50, Jeffery Poku-Aidoo 32, Tara Natasha Yearwood, 33 and Whaida Ishak, 28, have been arrested. They're all from the GTA.
