Keith Cole

Where Keith stands on the big issues facing Toronto:

1. What are your thoughts on Transit City?

"I think we should have transit, but I don't take it. I walk or take my bike everywhere. I don't take transit. I don't even know how much it is. I know it's a huge problem in Toronto, the TTC and how were dealing with Transit, but for me I think we need Transit City."

2. Bike lanes have become a heated topic during this campaign. Where do you stand on the issue?

"We need more bike lanes. How can people be against it. If I could put one right here I would."

4. What "big idea" do you have that will be part of your platform?

"Get over it, we got to move on. All the old baggage Toronto has been carrying. 2010 is a huge opportunity for Torontonians to get over it and move on. So many councilors are not coming back; David Miller is not coming back. So there is this huge opportunity to get voices, to get woman and people of colour into City Council. Part of the reason I think things didn't get done in city council the past six years is because all the city councilors hate each other. It's time for change."

5. How do you plan on cleaning up the city?

"Civic engagement is part of my campaigns and if you see dirt in a park and see it getting out of control call somebody and organize a clean up. We need more garbage bins and people need to stop taking responsibility and stop littering. I'm not against graffiti, I think it can be3 quite beautiful as long as it's not full of hate."

6. How do you plan on bringing "new life" to the city?

"Art is my biggest thing I am an artist. I do art, I believe in art, I am a cultural producer I am an artist, so anything I do involves around the art community and an artistic practice. I can't have enough of the vibrancy that the arts community brings. I'm going to bring art here and get our messages out to the world."

7. How do you feel about the crime level in Toronto? How do you plan on addressing it?

"I think crime is going down. This new fellow that's in there I think is good. I think crime is going down in Toronto, but increasing in places like Markham, Aurora, and Thornhill. I think we need to have friendlier cops and more cops on bikes.

8. How important is accountability while you are in office and how do you plan on monitoring this?

"I will make sure everything is honest. I've run an honest campaign so far and when it comes down to things I believe in like the TTC I don't take it I think it's the most depressing thing in the world, but I understand it's importance and I'm not going to lie and say I take the TTC everywhere I go."

9. What are your plans for the city's budget including property taxes?

"I don't know if I have a plan, but I did go to a budget meeting and you know it's not rocket science it seems like the new budget they're passing through that the new mayor and new councilors are going to have to deal with doesn't seem outrageous, crazy it seems like it was a pretty good solid budget. Overall it seems like a pretty solid budget."
