John Tory's fans refuse to give up hope that the former politician will reconsider running in Toronto's mayoral race.

A website was launched this weekend asking visitors to enter their names and encourage Tory to put his name on the ballot.

The slogan on the site reads: A new leader. A new deal: John Tory for Mayor.

The site, JohnToryforMayor.com, was created by a Torontonian who doesn't want to identify himself.

Tory, who was the head of Ontario's Progressive Conservative Party from 2005 until 2009, first entered politics in 2003 when he ran for mayor in Toronto's municipal election. He came in second to the city's current mayor David Miller.

Tory has insisted however that he has no plans to run in this year's civic election and said he was not aware of the fan site.

This is not the first website to pop up urging Tory to run. Toronto eatery Bistro on Avenue not only put up a sign on their website asking people to urge Tory to run, they also put up a banner outside of the restaurant that reads, "Honk your horn, John Tory for mayor!"

Tory, who currently hosts a Sunday evening phone-in show on Toronto radio station CFRB, has also just become the head of the Toronto City Summit Alliance.
