Peel police are looking for a stolen, "souped-up" Mustang after it -- and the trailer it was inside – were stolen from a Mississauga garage overnight.

Investigators say it appears the thieves knew exactly what they were looking for when they pulled up to the residence and towed away the trailer containing the custom sports car.

The car's owners had raced the car in the Montreal area over the weekend and believe they were followed home.

The surveillance cameras at the owner's garage were found to have been tampered with, but cameras across the street caught what looks like a light-coloured Ford pickup driving away with the trailer.

The owner of the modified Mustang is putting up a $25,000 reward for information leading to the return of the trailer and vehicle, which together are valued at $200,000.

Anyone with information on the car's whereabouts is asked to call Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
