An Aurora man is facing impaired driving charges after he was pulled over going the wrong way on Highway 401 early Friday morning.

Police say they received several calls for an eastbound driver in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 around Trafalgar Road at about 3:15 a.m.

Several cruisers tried to stop the vehicle - including one that had to take evasive action to avoid a serious collision. It took 15 minutes until police managed to pull over the driver.

OPP Const. Graham Williamson says wrong way drivers have a huge potential to cause an absolute disaster on the roads.

Il Kyong Kim, 39, is facing impaired driving, refusal to comply with a breath demand and dangerous driving charges. Police say it was the third impaired driving arrest made within one hour at the OPP Port Credit Detachment.
