Family, friends and fans of celebrated Toronto journalist Mark Dailey gathered today to say a final goodbye to the newsman.

Hundreds gathered at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church, located on Yonge and Heath Streets, for a memorial service in Mark's honour. Among the dignitaries on hand were Lieutenant Governor David Onley, Energy Minister Brad Duigud, and Toronto Fire Chief Bill Stewart. Dailey's sister, Colleen travelled from Ohio to remember her brother.

Before he became Ontario's Lieutenant Governor, David Onley was a longtime friend and colleague of Mark Dailey. Speaking at today's service, Onley talked about Dailey's skill of communicating with his audience.

Police chief Bill Blair spoke at the service and paid tribute to Dailey's special bond with his viewers.

Dailey won multiple awards during the course of his nearly 40-year career in radio and television. His charitable involvement over the years includes work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Salvation Army, St. John Ambulance and many more. He died last Monday at the age of 57 from cancer.
