Up to 17 people were injured after a TTC streetcar and a Greyhound bus collided at River and Dundas Streets Thursday afternoon.

Several people were taken to hospital - including the drivers of both vehicles – when the eastbound streetcar T-boned the bus at about 3 p.m., police say.

Amongst the injured were four school children returning from a field trip, the Toronto Star reports.

About 30 people were on the streetcar. Only the driver was aboard the Greyhound coach.

Police told the Star that the streetcar was attempting to stop at the time of impact, although the officer declined to speculate on whether one of the vehicles ran a red light.
