A 37-year-old mother of three died Christmas morning after she was critically wounded in a parking lot the evening before.

The woman suffered a severe brain injury as she left the parking lot at Southlake Regional Health Centre, located near Davis Drive and Prospect Street.

The accident happened as she drove up to the drive-thru pay station. Her window wasn't working so she opened her door to step out. However, her foot slipped off the brake while the car was still in the 'drive' position and she became pinned between her own vehicle and a pole.

Although emergency officials came to her rescue quickly, the woman succumbed to her injuries.

She leaves behind three children under the age of 10.
