TORONTO - Hundreds of music fans brought their prized possessions -- from scrapbooks to drumsticks and even a ukulele -- to Juno Fan Fare Saturday so their favourite artists could sign them.

"I have to stop crying, oh my God!" a teary-eyed Danielle Michaelov, 15, of Toronto screamed as members of the pop-rock band Hedley walked out to the large crowd gathered under a tent in the MuchMusic parking lot.

Susan Murphy, 42, travelled from Estevan, Sask., to see country star Johnny Reid at this weekend's Juno festivities.

"I've gone to over 100 (of his) shows," she said, holding two big Johnny Reid scrapbooks she'd made. "We're in his fan club so he knows us pretty well."

Caitlin Galipeau, 15, of Toronto was hoping to get several bands to write on her old, broken orange ukulele.

"I just want to meet some cool people," she said.

"I like Hedley, Down With Webster, These Kids Wear Crowns, Faber Drive."

Other Canadian artists participating in the downtown meet-and-greet session included rappers Classified and Shad, country singer George Canyon, pop singers Keshia Chante and Danny Fernandes, and the bands Midway State, Stereos, Sweet Thing and These Kids Wear Crowns.

"Juno Fan Fare is, like, really the most important part of the Junos, maybe aside from the actual awards show itself," said Jeremy (Krikit) Liddle, bassist for Faber Drive, which is up for a Juno for pop album of the year.

"I mean, this is where the fans get to come out and meet all of the bands that they look up to and listen to, and we get to hang out with our fans for a little bit, so it's cool."

Chante, who is up for two Junos this year, was like an excited fan herself after meeting some of the artists there.

"I love Johnny Reid. He's so cute!" she squealed. "And he's charismatic and he's very charming, like, all the time. So he'll, like, make me blush at any given moment. So he's really cute.

"And Down With Webster, they're awesome. I love watching them perform live. So it's fun!"

Chante said she's signed many odd things for fans in the past -- including several body parts -- so she was prepared to put her Sharpie to anything at the event.

"I've had girls whip things out, like: 'Please, just sign!' I'm like, 'Wow,"' she said. "I don't mind. It's fun, whatever. It's part of it."

Faber Drive members said they, too, have autographed pretty much every body part.

"I have actually autographed beside a guy's third nipple," said Liddle. "It was a little weird. He had it pierced."

Canyon, who played in the Juno Cup hockey game Friday night, said he doesn't sign body parts, "or any skin, so it's limited."

"I've signed a lot of boots, a lot of Chuck Taylor sneakers, hats," he added.

Shad, a Juno nominee for rap recording of the year, said he's even autographed a fan's prosthetic leg in the past.

"And he had a picture of me holding his leg with my signature on it, so that was cool."

The 40th anniversary Juno Awards broadcast takes place Sunday night (CTV at 8 p.m. ET) with Toronto rapper Drake as host.
