One man is in stable condition in hospital and a second is in custody following a shooting in the Yonge Street and Finch Avenue area Thursday night, Toronto police say.

Police said Friday that multiple gunshots were fired when the 40-year-old victim and suspect got into an altercation at 415 Willowdale Ave. at about 8:45 p.m.

Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, the victim was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. His condition has improved to stable, police said.

Members of the 32 Division street crime unit arrested a suspect and seized a handgun and ammunition.

Police said Bryan Friginette, 31, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and six firearms offences, including possession of a firearm while prohibited and altering a serial number.

Friginette is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.

Police are still seeking tips to learn more about the shooting.
