A 62-year-old man is facing dozens of charges after seniors in Regent Park complained they were robbed by a man impersonating a peace officer.

Toronto police released a surveillance tape of a suspect to the media yesterday afternoon. As a result several people came forward with information that helped lead police to a suspect.

Police had been searching for a suspect since the first batch of robberies were committed at the end of May.

Police say in the last few months, a man had falsely identified himself as a peace officer to 14 different victims in the Dundas and Sherbourne area.

In each of the robberies the man requested to see identification. When the victims handed over their wallets, he fled.

The last robbery took place on Monday. In that case, the suspect followed an 83-year-old man into the lobby of a condominium building near King and Jarvis Street, identified himself as an officer and proceeded to rifle through the victim's pockets, eventually taking his wallet.

Adrian McQuade, a Kingston resident, was arrested at about 7 p.m. Wednesday. He faces 28 charges -- 14 counts of robbery and 14 counts of impersonating a peace officer.

He appeared at the College Park courthouse this morning.

Police believe there may be more victims.
