Man shot twice near Dufferin Grove Park

A 20-year-old man has been transported to hospital after he was shot twice Monday night.

According to initial reports, the man was shot twice, once in the buttocks and once in the hand, in the Dufferin Grove Park area.

Motorcyclist hits fence

UPDATE: A man has been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a motorcycle accident Monday afternoon.

Toronto police said the rider was thrown from the motorcycle after running through a fence in the Finch Avenue West and Driftwood Avenue area.

Police said the man was on private property when he lost control on the motorcycle and ran through a fence and onto the road.

Between the property and the road, the motorcyclist struck a person riding an electric bicycle.

The rider on the electric bicycle was not injured.

Police said that motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Police are canvassing the area for witnesses.

Fire at former church site

UPDATE: Toronto fire crews have put out a generator fire at the site of an old church on Avenue Road.

A chimney at St. James Bond United Church, which is now a condo construction site, caught fire just before 4 p.m.

There are no reported injuries.

TTC services have resumed and the road has reopened.

Men charged after ETF raid

Three men are facing charges after Toronto police officers seized crack cocaine, marijuana and cash during a raid Friday night.

Members of the Emergency Task Force found the illicit drugs when they searched an apartment suite in the 2000 block of Sheppard Avenue West, police said.

Officers executed the search after they were tipped off by residents.

Police said Thavysay Phaengnavong, 20, of Toronto, is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, failing to comply with probation and three counts of failing to comply with a recognizance.

Kadeem Higgins, 20, of no fixed address, is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and failing to comply with probation.

Kerick Wilson, 19, of Toronto, is charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of marijuana.
