TORONTO - A vigil is planned tonight for a disabled man who died following his arrest by Toronto police near Christie Pits park, at Christie and Bloor Streets.

Charles McGillivary collapsed when police stopped him Aug. 1. The Special Investigtations Unit says there was a "physical interaction" during his arrest.

The 45-year-old was taken to Toronto Western Hospital, where he later died.

The vigil will be held at 8 p.m. at the southwest corner of Christie and Bloor.

The SIU is investigating what happened.

The agency is called in when police involvement in a situation results in death or serious injury.
