CP24.com readers were asked to share their Remembrance Day stories with us, whether they participated in the war or grew up with a loved one in service. These are their memories and the photos that have defined their experience.

Memories

Andrew Irwin, 86 years young, a fellow neighbour in Port Credit, Ontario served aboard the HMCS Discovery and also HMCS Algonquin during the Second World War.

On the HMCS Algonquin he served off the Norwegian Coast and the English Channel and was onboard for the Invasion of Normandy/D-Day - June 6th 1944.

On Remembrance Day and Canada Day he proudly displays his RCN flag beside the Canadian flag prominently on his front porch.

In recent years "Andy" has given many talks on his experiences in the local schools for which we all can be appreciative.
