Torontonians aren't getting much love from their fellow Canadians, especially in Western Canada.

It's no secret some people have a hate-on for Canada's largest city, but a new survey suggests Toronto is the least-liked city in the country.

Toronto scored the worst in a Leger Marketing survey that asked 2,345 Canadians to rate their perceptions of different cities in Canada – from "very positive" or "somewhat positive" to "somewhat negative" or "very negative."

The survey was conducted for the National Capital Commission and the Association of Canadian Studies.

At 19 per cent, Toronto had the highest number of negative votes. Some votes may have come from within Ontario, where almost 1,000 people were polled.

Plenty of negative votes came from Alberta, where 30 per cent of those polled sent a little hate Toronto's way.

Ottawa topped the survey as Canada's most-liked city with 82 per cent of favourable votes, followed by Victoria and Vancouver.

The survey has a margin of error of two per cent, 19 times out of 20.
