A firefighter suffered minor injuries when he fell through a hole in a floor while battling a two-alarm blaze on College Street on Wednesday morning, EMS and fire officials say.

The injured firefighter walking and speaking to colleagues at the scene after he emerged from the building, which was under construction. He was taken to Toronto Western Hospital by ambulance to be checked over.

Fire crews were called to the building, between Ossington and Concord avenues, at about 7 a.m. when someone reported a roof fire. Flames were visible and smoke was billowing into the sky when firefighters arrived.

Toronto Fire Services Capt. Mike Strapko confirmed the firefighter was injured when he fell through the floor.
