Two people working on the construction of a TTC tunnel were injured on the job this morning.

The accident happened just after 7:30 a.m. near York University, near Steeles Avenue and Jane Street.

The workers may have been struck by a large steel beam being lifted or moved around the site.

Police told CP24 both patients suffered non-life-threatening injuries. One person is complaining of lower back and hip pain and the other says he is suffering from chest and back pains.

One victim is believed to be 42 years old and the other, 26 years old.

A crane is being used to rescue the workers. An ambulance is already on the scene, ready to transport the victims to hospital.
