Police are investigating after several women reported being leered at or photographed with a cellphone camera while using a York University bathroom on Tuesday.

In the first incident, two women entered a washroom inside Curtis Lecture Hall around 6 p.m.

Police allege a man, who was in another stall, reached under each of the stalls the women were in holding a cellphone.

The women both exited the washroom and the man fled the scene.

The second incident occurred at around 8:30 p.m. when a woman entered a different bathroom inside Curtis Lecture Hall.

According to police, the woman soon noticed a man peering over the top of her stall before fleeing.

Both incidents come on the heels of a statement by York University President and Vice-Chancellor Mamdouh Shoukri, in which he announced that 60 per cent of recommendations made this fall to improve safety for women on campus have been implemented.

"York University is committed to creating a space where people feel valued and safe," he said in Wednesday's release. "We will continue to work collaboratively with the entire York community to enhance the quality of life for those who study and work here."

The suspect in the voyeurism cases is described as brown, age 20-25, 5'8"- 5' 9", 169-180 lbs with a thin face, a chin-strap beard, dark eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a grey knitted sweater, blue jeans, grey shiny sneakers with two straps and a grey toque.
