Toronto police are investigating a possible double homicide in the Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue area after two bodies were found in the stairwell of a parking garage.

Police told CP24 it's too early to tell exactly what happened but confirmed the victims were two men who suffered from several gunshot wounds. Shell casings from bullets were found on the scene.

"We're still trying to determine what the sequence of events were," Const. Tony Vella told CP24 in a telephone interview.

Investigators on the scene said the victims were targeted and were not a victim of a random attack.

The victims, both believed to be in their early twenties, were found in a stairwell in the parking garage of Bogert Ave. just before 4 p.m. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The garage is part of a lowrise building.

Residents of the building told CP24 that police have been at the complex before to deal with marijuana grow ops and other criminal activity.

Police have blocked off the area and have set up a command post. Officers are talking to people who are visiting or living in the building and are looking at video taken from a surveillance camera in the area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide squad at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
