Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating following the death of a 48-year-old man in Sutton Friday.
According to the SIU, York Regional Police were entering an abandoned house in Sutton during a search for a missing male when they heard a gunshot shortly after 4 p.m.
Upon a search of the house, a man was discovered dead from an apparent gunshot wound.
The SIU has assigned three investigators and two forensic investigators to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
