Canadians took exception to a comment made by American television analyst Harold Reynolds during Game 3 of the Toronto Blue Jays' American League Division Series against the Texas Rangers on Sunday night.
After a foul ball by Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista in the top of the fourth inning, the FOX commentator took a shot at Canada's baseball ability.
"We were talking about foul balls in the stands up in Toronto, and because there's not a lot of people that grew up playing baseball in Canada, they're not used to catching a lot of balls in the stands ... not many people catching that one, anyway," Reynolds said.
The comments drew an outcry from Canadian Twitter users, including former Major League Baseball outfielder and Maple Ridge, B.C. native Larry Walker.
"I won 7 gold gloves. I think part of winning them was cause I could catch," Walker tweeted from his verified account.
Toronto currently has two Canadians on its playoff roster, including catcher Russell Martin and outfielder Dalton Pompey.
Reynolds spent 12 seasons in the MLB and made two all-star teams while also winning three Gold Glove awards.
