LONDON -- Australian cyclist Richie Porte has been selected by Team Sky for the Tour de France after recovering from hip and knee injuries that led to his withdrawal from the Giro d'Italia last month.

Porte will be one of the helpers for Chris Froome, Team Sky's leader, who is looking to win cycling's biggest race for the second time after 2013.

Team Sky's lineup for the Tour de France was announced on Monday.

Team principal Dave Brailsford says "we have a strong team -- led by Chris Froome -- that's hungry for success."

Froome's defence of his Tour title ended after a crash on the fifth stage in 2014.

The Tour starts on Saturday.
