Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Marcus Stroman is a Gold Glove winner for the first time in his career.

MLB announced the winners of the award -- which recognizes a player at each position's defensive abilities throughout the season -- on Tuesday night.

Stroman beat out Boston left-hander Chris Sale and Tampa Bay's Alex Cobb in the American League pitcher category.

"This is one of the main awards I always wanted to win," Stroman said in an interview on ESPN. "I'm ecstatic. This is huge for me."

Canada's Joey Votto of the Cincinnati Reds was up for the award among NL first basemen but lost out to Arizona's Paul Goldschmidt, who won his third career Gold Glove.

Stroman had a fielding percentage of .979 over his 33 starts (201 innings) in 2017. He made nine putouts, helped turn six double plays and made one error.

The 26-year-old gave credit to Toronto second baseman Ryan Goins and shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in a tweet Tuesday night after the winners were announced.

"Shout to @rgoins17 and .2Lo for letting me always work in on their pregame routine. I take at least 50 groundballs between every start!" Stroman wrote.

Stroman joins R.A. Dickey as the only Blue Jays pitcher to win a Gold Glove.
