BEIJING - The Canadians men's 4x100-metre relay team raced to a bronze medal at the world track and field championships after the United States was disqualified.

The team of Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, Andre De Grasse and Justyn Warner, running the anchor leg, raced to third place with a time of 38.13 seconds.

Usain Bolt and the Jamaicans won gold, and the host Chinese shocked the field by taking silver.

The U.S. looked to finish in second, but were disqualified for an illegal baton exchange.

Canada now has seven medals in Beijing. Its previous best at a world championships was five.

Earlier, Damian Warner of London, Ont., won silver in the decathlon and Melissa Bishop of Eganville, Ont., captured silver in the women's 800 metres.
