OTTAWA - Canadian midfielder Diana Matheson will be out of action indefinitely after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee.

She was hurt in a 3-0 loss to Japan last Saturday in Edmonton.

The Canadian Soccer Association confirmed the injury news today on Twitter.

Matheson scored the lone goal in Canada's 1-0 Olympic bronze-medal victory against France two years ago.

She says that she hopes to be back in time for the 2015 Women's World Cup next summer in Canada.
